It’s been a month since Mortal Kombat 1 was released. The meta has developed in such a way that many players believe that characters like Raiden, Baraka, Kenshi, Johnny Cage, and Ashrah are among the top tiers.
However, it appears that Sindel could rise through the ranks due to a recent discovery. As it turns out, Sindel has a near inescapable touch of death sequence in Mortal Kombat 1. Since this appears to be due to a bug in the game, players are hopeful that this will be patched out.
In a couple of different clips, it’s demonstrated by TheMightyUnjust and Rewind that Sindel can deplete an entire health bar. This situation works both against a training CPU set to auto block and a human holding the block button.
While one might initially believe that the combo can be escaped by performing a combo breaker, Sindel actually has access to a unique special that prohibits the opponent from doing so for a duration. Needless to say, this combo involves Sindel performing this action near the beginning of the sequence.
This means that the opponent only has a very small opportunity to perform their combo breaker at the start of the combo, but only if they have enough resources to do so. After the Sub-Zero Kameo is called to freeze the opponent, they’ll then be forced to eat the entire sequence.
Part of why this combo deals so much damage is due to the fact that the combo counter keeps resetting. In other words, this is actually numerous combos linked together in situations where the opponent is apparently unable to block or use an armored special to escape.
