Responsibilities / Duties / Job Skills:
The role involves overseeing and executing various quality control (QC) and inspection activities for projects, ensuring compliance with customer and contractual requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Reviewing inspection requirements, specifications, and procedures.
Performing visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections.
Continuously improving QC processes and making recommendations.
Ensuring project QC documentation meets contractual requirements.
Assisting QC staff and interpreting standards, codes, and specifications.
Coordinating with third-party NDT companies and managing related documentation.
Monitoring equipment calibration and reporting deviations.
Ensuring adherence to quality control phases and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Collecting and maintaining QC records and implementing corrective actions.
Managing and coordinating inspection activities as required.
Additionally, if qualified as a welding inspector, the role includes managing welding-related documentation and procedures.
Profile
Knowledge
General understanding of industry related specifications, e.g. AWS D1.1, ASME IX, AMSE B31.3, API
General understanding and familiarity of NDE (MT, PT, RT, UT) methods and reports.
Experience working in Oil and Gas sector / working on recertification/overhaul/repair of subsea drilling equipment (Marine drilling riser and other capital drilling equipment) / evaluation of in-service equipment would be advantageous.
Qualifications
Matric (required)
NDT qualifications: SNT-TC-1A / ISO9712 Level II MPI + LPI + UTWT (required)
SAIW Level I/ II welding inspector (Would be advantageous*)
Experience
Minimum of 3 – 4 years' experience working as an NDT Inspector evaluating in-service equipment
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an engineering fabrication facility.
