NDE trains 540 unemployed youths on basic vocational skills in Cross River

The National Directorate of Employment has commenced the training of 540 unemployed youths in various Vocational skills in Cross River state.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony of the training exercise on Friday, the Director-General Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo enjoined the selected Youths to see themselves as privileged, having been chosen from the vast population of unemployed in the state.

The Director-General who was represented on the occasion by the State Coordinator Udam Gabriel Ugbashi added that the exercise which will be for three months is meant for 360 unemployed youths who will participate in Basic Vocational skills training and 180 participants in Advanced Vocational Skills training across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.

According to him, the skills include Domestic Skills like Fashion Design, Hair Dressing, and makeup while the technical skills include plumbing, television/radio repairs, GSM and Electrical installation.

The Director Vocational Skills Department NDE headquarters who was represented on the occasion by Haroon Eze admonished the trainees to take the training seriously in order to justify the huge investment of the Federal Government in the training.
