By Kenneth Anam

The Nigerian Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) in her relentless efforts to combat ravaging diseases, outbreaks and epidemic, beamed her searchlight on Cross River State.

The NCDC on Thursday in her benevolence delivered a truck-load of cholera and Lassa fever response commodities to Cross River as the state tackles disease outbreaks.

The commodities which were received for onward dispatch to different locations of the state where disease outbreaks such as Cholera were reported have already been shipped out to the health facilities in the affected areas, so as to enable the health workers respond accordingly to disease outbreaks.

Representing the Honourable Commissioner For Health, Dr.Janet Ekpenyong, the state Epidemiologist, Mrs Inyang Ekpenyong, upon receiving the commodities expressed gratitude to the Director General of the NCDC, Dr Ifedayo Adetifa, thanking them for their prompt and swift response to the state request for support.

She however promised adequate and appropriate use of the commodities received even as she assured Cross Riverians that the menacing effects of this sad occurrence will soon be nipped in the bud through the selfless and assiduous approach of the state government, support from NCDC and other partners and the health workers on the field.

Recall that the NCDC has always been proactive in its approach and efforts of prioritizing health and life related issues as witnessed in the state during the Covid-19 pandemic era.

“we can only pray and ask for greater heights to keep delivering in your commitment to saving lives,” she added.
