‘I need to get the f*** out’: Nate Diaz rages at UFC hypocrisy after they offer special NFT deal on ‘420 day’ related to him and his brother… despite punishing both for using marijuana in the past
- Nate Diaz has one fight remaining on his current contract in the UFC
- He has previously spoken about wanting the organisation to release him
- UFC posted link to sale of non-fungible tokens related to the Diaz brothers
- Nate responded: ‘It’s s*** like this why I need to get the f*** out of the UFC’
Nate Diaz has slammed the UFC for hypocrisy and reiterated his desire to be released by the organisation.
The Stockton fighter responded angrily when the UFC posted a link to encourage fans to buy non-fungible tokens related to the Diaz brothers.
A deal offered by the promotion, on 420 Day, an occasion when many celebrate by smoking marijuana – gave fans the chance to own free NFTs related to the Diaz brothers.
Nate Diaz wants to leave the UFC and raged at what he sees as the company’s hypocrisy
Diaz last fought in June 2021 and suffered a decision defeat at the hands of Leon Edwards
The brothers have of course been closely identified with the culture of 420 Day throughout their time in the UFC but the organisation have disciplined them both for marijuana-related incidents in the past.
This was a point Nate picked up on, replying: ‘It’s s*** like this why I need to get the f*** out of the sorry a** UFC.
‘Didn’t you guys suspend Nick [Diaz] for five years and fine me loads of money for a vape pen?! Now you’re reaping the benefits. I hope nobody buys this bull****.’
The 37-year-old has been spoken about his desire to leave the UFC repeatedly and has one fight remaining on his current contract.
Diaz said he wants to fight Dustin Poirier before hanging up his gloves and retiring
According to reports, he was offered a fight with Khamzat Chimaev but turned it down last year, triggering an extension.
The UFC could be plotting a trilogy with Conor McGregor to see Diaz round off his time in the company but he remains a big pay-per-view star.
They will be desperate for him to put pen to paper on a new deal but it seems as though the veteran has made up his mind.
Diaz has also chased a fight with Dustin Poirier over the last few months and ‘Diamond’ was also keen on the encounter.
But it seems the UFC are against the idea and no announcements have been made about who Diaz will face in what could be his farewell fight.
Diaz is a fan favourite and will be sorely missed if he decides to fight out his contract
