MMA legend Nate Diaz wants to be added to the upcoming UFC 277 card which takes place on July 30 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The 37-year-old is hoping to get a late-notice fight on the card that will feature the eagerly anticipated rematch between UFC bantamweight champion Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes.

“July 30th Would be a nice to departure date,” Diaz wrote on social media on Friday.

The Stockton, California native has just one fight on his current deal and has been calling for the UFC to get him an opponent for months, but his cries appear to have fallen on deaf ears.

In May, Diaz took the drastic step of publicly disrespecting the UFC to demonstrate that no matter what, they will not release him from his contract.

“Taking a p*** on the UFC [Performance Institute] I could do this because I get paid more than all you guys and they won’t cut me,” Diaz wrote on Twitter alongside the below image.

The UFC fan favourite hasn’t fought since suffering a unanimous decision defeat against Leon Edwards at UFC 263 in June 2021.

Diaz has been linked to fights with Dustin Poirier and Khamzat Chimaev since then but for some reason, his final UFC fight has been hard to book.

The first man to beat Conor McGregor in the Octagon appears to be excited to test what promises to be a lucrative free agency market as one of the biggest stars in MMA, although it remains unclear when he’ll get that opportunity.

Last month, Diaz called for the UFC to rip up his contract and allow him to pursue ‘bigger s***’, such as a fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Dana White agreed that at this stage of his career Diaz probably should be fighting someone like ‘The Problem Child’ but since then the UFC president has gone quiet.

Paul is booked to face Hasim Rahman Jr. on August 6 after Tommy Fury withdrew from their bout scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York next month.

Diaz, who hopes to face the former Disney actor later this year, was in Las Vegas over the weekend to watch UFC 276 where he slapped a reporter for posting disrespectful things about him on social media.
