Naira makes slight recovery at official window, depreciates marginally at black market

The Nigerian currency, the naira made a slight recovery against the American dollar at the official window on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, FX data showed that the naira appreciated to N1,530.52/$1 on Wednesday from N1,532.93/$1 it traded on Tuesday.

This indicates that the naira appreciated by N2.41 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis.

On the black market, the naira traded at N1,585/$1 as against the N1,580/$1 the previous day. This represents a loss of N5 for the local currency.

The naira closed flat against the British Pound to trade at N2,040/£1 same as the previous day’s rate of N2,040£1..

The Canadian Dollar still held steady at N1,200/CA$1.

The naira lost N10 against the Euro to trade at ₦1,710/€1 as against the previous day’s rate of ₦1,700/€1.
