Nigeria Air Force officer allegedly shoots Transport Worker to death in Calabar

An officer of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has allegedly shot to death one Asuquo Etim Umo, staff of the Commercial Transport Regulatory Agency (CTRA), popularly referred to as “100 Marian”.

THE PARADISE NEWS gathered that the incident happened on Friday at the Cultural Centre Complex, Calabar, Cross River State Capital where the Agency impounds commercial vehicles for violating certain road rules.

According to THE PARCHMENT, the CTRA impounded a vehicle over a certain offence – the vehicle which belonged to an officer of the NAF was then taken to the Cultural Centre where their office is located.

An eyewitness who spoke with THE PARCHMENT said the driver of the impounded vehicle called the NAF personnel, the owner of the vehicle who came and shot one of the CTRA staff to death.

“The driver of the vehicle then called the owner, an Air Force personnel who came to Cultural Centre with some armed officers. And because the tyres were deflated, some argument started and while we were trying to work out things, the Air Force officer pulled out his gun and fired at Asuquo who was very vocal during the argument”, the eyewitness said.

Further findings reveal that the driver of the vehicle who called the Air Force personnel has been arrested and is currently under the custody of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad (AKCS) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), which office is also located at the Cultural Centre.

Meanwhile, the Air Force personnel is on the run.

Efforts by THE PARADISE NEWS to reach the NAF for comments proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
