Almost a year after revealing they were pulling down the beta servers
It’s been nearly a full year since MultiVersus announced their open beta servers were getting pulled down after their flash in the pan launch in 2022.
Now, Player1stGames is finally back and seems to be teasing an imminent announcement for the return of Warner Bros.’ platform fighting game.
The official MultiVersus X/Twitter account posted for the first time since June 2023 when the open beta concluded.
All they had to say was “*taps mic* testing, testing, 1,2,3” which certainly looks to be pointing to news about their future incoming very soon.
This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, however, considering that evidence had been mounting that a re-reveal would be coming some time in March, and it looks like that was correct after all.

MultiVersus Happy Meals are coming to McDonald’s in North America and Australia as well as the SteamDB page for the game receiving updates likely indicating something was going on behind the scenes.
The hope is that this reintroduction to MVS will be considered the full release with more characters, features and modes and not just another beta period.
The platform fighter featuring Cartoon Network, DC, HBO, Looney Tunes, and wider Warner properties initially smashed player records for the genre when it launched in the Summer of 2022 and even managed to win best fighting game at The Game Awards that year.
It appeared, though, that the success came too much too fast with costumes and characters pushed out in season passes while still in beta before the updates suddenly slowed to a crawl that Winter and then stopped completely.
With interest dwindling after the beta release and slowing content, pulling down the beta servers to work more on the game outside of the public eye (and not charging players more for an incomplete fighter) may have been the best move, but it’s still certainly a gamble to see if the eyes will be on the game when it does come back.
There was also the risk that MultiVersus would just never see the light of day again, but it looks like it is indeed coming back in the very near future.
But with Warner Bros. looking to push their live-service games over AAA releases after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League underperformed, it’s going to be very interesting to see how MultiVersus is handled going forward after being away for almost a year.
