Although they went dark for almost a year in the public’s eye, it seems Player First Games has been hard at work putting together new content for MultiVersus’ full release next month.
The team recently unveiled a new costume that’ll be available for Superman in MVS, but fans have been looking more at the other details for other new content and potential teases for future additions / announcements.
Their post was made in part to celebrate Superman’s 86th anniversary from his Action Comics debut, and while we’re not sure if the outfit is a direct reference to something from the comics, it looks like he’s blending some classic Clark Kent with vacation dad vibes with the hat, shorts and Superman-branded fanny pack.
Fans were quick to spot that the Man of Steel appears to be standing on the Townsville stage, which was previously only showed off in concept art with MultiVersus’ re-reveal.
This of course has strong implications for the inclusion of the Powerpuff Girls on the roster considering all maps up to this point have been tied to playable characters.
If the girls are coming, it’ll be interesting to see if Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup will come as a package deal or perhaps we’ll only get one as a solo fighter for the time being.
Other potential new stages previously teased includes Dexter’s Laboratory and the Warner Bros. Lot for the Animaniacs, so those classic Cartoon Network and WB series seem to be primed for joining the crossover battle too.
The accompanying video for the Supers skin is more so giving off some ’80s or ’90s vibes with the CRT TV, VCR and VHS tapes on display that fans having been combing through too.
One thing that certainly stood out was the collage on the TV where for a second you can see part of the cover for Action Comics #714 from 1995 where The Joke appeared dressed up as Superman.

Some feel this could be a not so subtle tease for Joker’s addition to the MultiVersus cast too, which certainly wouldn’t be a surprise.
During the beta period, audio appeared to leak online featuring Mark Hamill’s Joker voice lines, which were then hit with copyright takedowns and all but confirmed them to be legitimate.
With Kevin Conroy’s sad passing in 2022, MultiVersus could serve as one of the last times we get to hear his Batman and Hamill’s Joker interact with each other.
People have also been looking at the tapes on the top shelf, which are more visible in the Instagram post version, with labels saying Superman 2, Gremlins, Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry, Batman Returns, and Wonder Woman.
A couple of them stand out, however, between one simply labeled Cartoons and the other seems to include Saturday Morning, which could point back to characters like the Powerpuff Girls, Dexter, Animaniacs and Joker though we obviously don’t know for sure yet.
Player First Games has yet to reveal any new fighters for MultiVersus even though we know some are coming alongside new modes, stages and rebuilt netcode.
They did at least recently unveil that parries have been added to the game as a new mechanic with apparently more on the way.
We should expect to see quite a lot out of MultiVersus in the coming weeks as its May 28 launch date quickly approaches.
