January 10, 2025 BRONX, New York – A heavy fire that started on the sixth floor of a Wallace Avenue apartment building in the Bronx left multiple people hospitalized and hundreds displaced after burning for several hours, FDNY officials said.
Firefighters seen battling the five-alarm inferno that spread to the roof of a six-story apartment building in the Allerton section of The Bronx early Friday morning.
High winds reportedly impacted FDNY operations against a possible electrical fire where at least seven people were injured, including five members of service and two civilians. The two residents were hospitalized with serious non life threatening injuries.
Hundreds were also left displaced following the blaze where the roof of the building collapsed leaving the structure completely destroyed by heavy fire along with water damage from with hours of intense operations. Families affected by the fire have relocated to nearby P.S.76 school for temporary shelter.
Fire was reported just before 2 a.m., near Wallace Ave between Pelham Pkwy S & Lydia Avenue.
