Mugen match up pits Street Fighter 3's Ryu against Street Fighter 6's Ryu to demonstrate which version is stronger

Mugen is a fighting game engine released back in 1999. Even today, fans have been using the engine to create dream match ups that would otherwise be impossible.

As such, Violen Ken has released an interesting video that depicts a match up between Ryu and… Ryu. More specifically, this is the Street Fighter 3’s version of Ryu facing off against Street Fighter 6’s Ryu.

Of course, it should be noted that everything seen in the video appears to be a work in progress. Due to this, Street Fighter 3’s Ryu seemingly has a huge advantage over Street Fighter 6 Ryu.

Throughout this match, Ryu is never shown using the Drive Gauge from Street Fighter 6, aside from using Overdrive Hurricane Kick and Overdrive Hashogeki.

On the other hand, SF3 Ryu not only gets to keep his parry, but he apparently has access to two supers at once. Due to this, SF6 Ryu is relegated to backing away repeatedly in hopes of keeping SF3 Ryu out.

Unfortunately for SF6 Ryu, it’s not even possible to consistently anti-air SF3 Ryu when he jumps since he can still perform parries while airborne. This proves to be an unfair match up, but it’s interesting to see it play out nonetheless.
