By Margaret Asikong:CRS, MOI Officer Reporting from the Office of the Wife of the Governor.
Wife of Cross River State Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Ayade has admonished married couples to build their marriages on God’s foundation, in order to have a successful marriage.
Mrs Ayade gave the admonition recently in Calabar during the wedding ceremony between former Miss Patience Amanuye Liwhu and Noble Albert Idagu Ogodo at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, Ikot Ansa, Calabar.
According to her “if you build your marriage with God as your foundation, you have done 99% of it already and the 1% remaining, is dependent on your own effort to hold it together, build and nurture it based on God’s Word”.
She further maintained that a lot of problems in the society today is as a result of the fact that people have neglected the word of God which is the manual for every one, adding that, if everyone makes efforts to obey God’s instructions as prescribed in His Word, the world would be a better place for all to live in.
The Governor’s wife congratulated the couple and prayed for God’s blessings upon the newly wedded couple, while wishing them a fruitful married life in the years ahead.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Quality Education and Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Godwin Amanke congratulated the couple for coming together in holy matrimony and wished them God’s blessings, love, oneness and the best of luck in their marriage, adding that since no two marriages are the same, they should therefore build their marriage on God, love, trust, amongst other virtues.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu also congratulated Mr/Mrs. Noble Albert Ogodo on their wedding, wishing them a fruitful marriage filled with God’s blessings in their home, while praying that they should continue to live and grow in love with total dependence on God who instituted marriage.
She expressed delight to see that majority of the people present at the ceremony were all using their face mask and were being given hand sanitizers to use, with a bucket of water placed in front of the premises for people to wash their hands before entering into the church and the venue of the reception, which according to her, is COVID 19 compliant.
Dr. Edu Commended the organizers of the wedding, adding that they are happy that CrossRiverians are beginning to come to the understanding that they should protect themselves and others by using their face mask and hand sanitizers always, as well as avoiding public gatherings without spacing.
She encouraged all to continue to use their facemask and hand sanitizers, while assuring that they will continue with the testing and contact tracing to ensure that the best care is being provided for all Cross Riverians across boards.
In his exhortation from Genesis 2:18-24, Ephesians 5:25-35 and John 3:16, the Officiating Priest, Rev. Fr. Cletus Udoh (CPC) admonished the couple to build their marriage relationship on God, love, trust, affection, honesty, hard work and commitment, which according to him, are the tips for a successful marriage, while enjoining them to submit themselves to one another in the fear of God and avoid listening to gossips and third parties.
In an interview, Barr. Mrs. Frank Ayade, wife of the Father of the Day, Dr. Frank Ayade, also lend her voice to congratulate the newly wedded couple and wished them the very best in their marriage, while praying for favour, love, unity, oneness, God’s blessings and protection on them.
On their part, the couple expressed appreciation to God for making the day a reality inspite of the COVID 19 pandemic and thanked all present for coming to felicitate with them.
