First timers, Jesam Ebri, Rose Ofem win Mr. & Miss Leboku 2019

Jesam Ebri and Rose Ofem have emerged winners of the 2019 Mr. & Miss Leboku pageant.

They duo were crowned King and Queen early Friday at the Ubi Ujong Inah Conference Centre, Ugep, Yakurr local government, after an exhilarating stage performance.

The pageantry is part of activities marking the Leboku festival, which is the celebration of the harvest of new yams.

Rose, a 300 Level student of the Department of Mass Communication, at the Institute of Technology & Management, Ugep, edged out 7 other contestants in a rigorous stage battle to clinch the highly coveted crown.

Also, in the male category, Jesam Ebri, a poet and final year student of Business Management in the University of Calabar, clinched the crown to become the reigning Mr. Leboku.

Mr. Ebri hails from Kekomkolo, in Ijom Council Ward while Miss Rose hails from Egbijom, Ikpakapit all in Ugep.

They will officially be unveiled at the main ceremony tomorrow (Saturday), where they will both be presented with car gifts.

They are expected to draw up micro pet-projects to promote the rich cultural heritage of the Ugep people, as well as be ambassadors of the Cross River State tourism brand.
