Nigerian comedian, actor, and activist Adebowale ‘Debo’ Adebayo, aka Mr. Macaroni, has questioned the decision behind the arrest and arraignment of human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi.
In a message on his X page (previously Twitter), Mr. Macaroni questioned the development and criticized the Nigerian police for supposedly serving as oppressive agents for powerful people.
He also queried people in power for using the Nigerian police to abduct Dele Farotimi from one state to another, intimidation of his staff, and the seizure of their phones.

Mr. Macaroni wrote, “Dele Farotimi wrote a book called “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System,” and the brazen impunity which the book seeks to address is playing right before our eyes. How does one describe this insanity? Using the police to abduct a person from one state to another, the intimidation and harassment of his staff, seizure of their phone.”
“How many crimes have been committed here while trying to investigate whether Mr. Farotimi committed a crime?” Macaroni asked, casting doubt on the police’s efforts.
“How much longer will the Nigerian police let the “High and Mighty” utilize them to oppress Nigerians? This is the result of our support for treating civil cases as criminal cases due to partisanship or political disagreements,” he stated.
