Mortal Kombat 1 just saw the widespread release of the title’s latest main roster DLC character, DC Comics’ own Peacemaker. The John Cena-portrayed brawler first entered the hands of the masses via early access for those who purchased the Premium Edition of the game and/or the Kombat Pack, but now everyone everywhere can buy him.
In his gameplay trailer, we also saw footage of the newest and upcoming DLC Kameo Fighter, Janet Cage, though it was announced at the time that she wouldn’t be releasing alongside Peacemaker, but instead following him sometime this month. Well, NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have now unveiled the official release date for the additional Kameo.
“Lights, kameo, action! Janet Cage will be ready to assist for all #MK1 players on March 27,” wrote the official Mortal Kombat Twitter account just moments ago.
Janet Cage is exactly what you think she is. This interesting fighter is the female version of series staple Johnny Cage, but from an alternate timeline.
The game’s official Twitter page also shared some new key art of Janet that includes a few clues at what she’ll play like in battle.
We see that her various Kameo assist tools include “Kombo Extension,” “Offense,” and “Stunt Double,” which is pretty straight forward (aside from that last one). Kombo Extension obviously signifies that Janet will help players extend their sequences to get more damage, and her “Offense” trait likely means she’ll be good at helping you pressure your foes.
In the gameplay trailer, we did actually see a handful of Janet’s moves in action. With one of her attacks, we see her perform two staggered kicks, an uppercut, and a shadow kick that allow Peacemaker to continue his juggle combo.
Another one of her maneuvers sees her execute a series of jump punches that keep the opponent juggled, and it appears as though she can choose how many she wishes to do (with three being the most we’ve seen in one go).
As mentioned previously, Janet Cage will become available in Mortal Kombat 1 on March 27.
