Mortal Kombat 1’s next big DLC character, Quan Chi, is now available to play by way of early access. When his initial gameplay trailer was first released, the latest contender could be seen fighting alongside the game’s next DLC Kameo Fighter, Khameleon.
In the trailer, we learned that Quan Chi would see his early access release today, December 14, but Khameleon would be following sometime in January 2024. With the latest update, however, it appears that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have also unveiled Khameleon’s actual specific release date.
Instead of coming outright and officially announcing Khameleon’s release date, it seems the two companies have opted to add it into the December update’s patch notes. According to said notes, Khameleon will be officially joining the Kameo Fighter roster on January 16, 2024.
The general section of the patch notes lists some of the content being added to the game today. Within the items listed, we see that Khameleon is mentioned as being added, though she currently only exists as a portrait on the Kameo Fighter select screen.
What’s more interesting, though, is that a small note next to the line that mentions Khameleon flat out reveals her official release date. “Added Khameleon Kameo Character (Available 1/16/24),” reads the patch notes.
Khameleon is a Kameo Fighter that channels the maneuvers of classic female Mortal Kombat ninjas Kitana, Mileena, and Jade. She can use all of their attacks in combat, though which attacks she has access too randomly cycle throughout the fight.
NetherRealm Studios gave fans a look at Kameo Fighter Khameleon’s Fatality yesterday during the Kombat Kast presentation. Unfortunately, this finisher feels a little uninspired and plays out in a quick and simple sequence.
Those who already own the Kombat Pack will get access to Khameleon as soon as she’s available. If you aim to purchase Khameleon individually, however, she will likely cost $4.99 USD as the first DLC Kameo Fighter, Tremor, had that same price tag before her.
