Mortal Kombat 1 is set to have a big update later this month with the arrival of DC’s Peacemaker, but it seems like they may have a smaller one about to drop for players.
NetherRealm Studios announced today that MK1 will be undergoing server maintenance tomorrow, February 8, along with acknowledging the desync issues still present in the game.
Servers are set to go down at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET tomorrow though they’re only planned to be in maintenance mode for around an hour or so.
During that time all online functionality will be unavailable including matchmaking, in-game reward progress and more.
There’s no mention as to what this maintenance is for, but given the relatively short downtime, it’s likely not for a very big update or anything and could just be some stability improvements.
#MK1 will be undergoing maintenance on Thursday, Feb 8. We’re expecting to be down for around an hour starting at 9am CT/7am PT. Keep an eye out here, and we’ll let you know when we’re back online. Thank you ahead of time for your patience.

On top of that, NRS also released a statement regarding complaints about an online issue still present in the game.
“We are aware of a rare issue where the beginning of a round is out of sync between players, we are currently investigating this and will notify you when there is an update,” reads their post on X/Twitter.
This particular desync issue occurs at the start of the round where one character can act before the other, which can lead to a confirmed combo where the other player doesn’t have an opportunity to block or act.

The problem may be solely for Raiden or be more prevalent for him even if it is a “rare” occurrence.
It got more public attention this past weekend when a competitor complained they may have lost an MK1 tournament set because of this glitch at an online event.
Tomorrow’s maintenance probably isn’t going to fix this particular issue, so players will likely need to wait longer on that while an update is worked on.
Peacemaker is set to release in early access on February 27, so perhaps they can have it ready for his arrival.
Mortal Kombat 1 was also recently confirmed to be featured as a mainstage title for Evo 2024’s event lineup this year.
