Mortal Kombat 1 servers now down for maintenance in preparation for Kameo Mavado DLC

It’s been announced that Mortal Kombat 1’s online servers are now offline to prepare for Mavado’s release as a Kameo character. Once the servers are back online, the Kameo roster count will be expanded to 19.

As previously noted, Mavado is intended to function as a Kameo that’s most effective for set ups, defense, and combo extension. Based on what we’ve seen from the trailer and Kombat Kast, Mavado has plenty of actions that behave as “ambush assists,” which are typically very strong in Mortal Kombat 1.

Unfortunately, no word on how long the maintenance period is expected to last for has been given. Instead, NetherRealm Studios has simply told fans to “stay tuned for further updates.”

From previous maintenance periods that added Kameo characters to Mortal Kombat 1, we expect this timeframe to last for about an hour or two. Of course, we’ll be sure to provide an update once the online servers are back in action.

According to a known data-miner, Thethiny, we probably shouldn’t expect a major balance patch this time around. Supposedly, this update will apparently contain some secret Brutalities.

Strangely, however, these secret Brutalities don’t appear to have any triggers for them. This suggests that the Brutalities are only being placed in the game as placeholders for now, or they’ll be exclusive to AI opponents.
