It hasn’t quite been a full year since Mortal Kombat 1 first launched yet, but the game’s certainly seen quite a few updates over that time.
NetherRealm Studios just announced server maintenance is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 tomorrow morning, August 13.
According to the official post, the maintenance period is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET for approximately 30 minutes.
During this time, all online features will remain unavailable including matchmaking, leaderboards, in-game rewards, the store and more.
There’s no mention as to what the maintenance is specifically for, but many fans are responding with hopes that it’ll come with an update that nerfs Ferra.
As the last new Kameo added to the game for Kombat Pack 1 alongside Takeda, Ferra has been seeing some heavy experimentation over the past few weeks that have produced some interesting results.
Ferra can jump on her partner’s back to apply them with a damage buff that lasts for around 10 seconds at the cost of some of their health.
Some players have discovered some pretty ridiculous combos using that buff to do upwards of 98% damage in one string (if not higher by this point), so that’s probably what most fans are referring to in hopes of seeing her toned down.
Given the short length of time of the maintenance, however, NRS is less likely to implement a larger update / balance patch to make adjustments on the DLC Kameo.
If we had to take a guess, the developers will probably be patching out an unblockable Cyrax exploit that was discovered in the game recently at least.
Mortal Kombat 1 may not receive its next major update until the Khaos Reigns expansion launches later this year, so we should be hearing more about that in the coming weeks / months ahead.
Starting on August 13 at 7am PT/9am CT, #MK1 will go offline for approximately 30 minutes. Stay tuned to this post for further details.
