Mortal Kombat 1 server maintenance coming this morning to add Ermac and new update

It’s been a hot minute since Ermac was actually playable in Mortal Kombat, but that’s all about to change very shortly.

NetherRealm Studios is preparing for the arrival of Ermac today with a broader update in Mortal Kombat 1, and that includes some server maintenance of course too.

As was announced on the official Mortal Kombat social media pages, MK1’s server maintenance period is scheduled to begin this morning at 6 a.m. PDT / 9 a.m. EDT.

They don’t give a time table for how long this down time is going to last, but Peacemaker’s was planned to be around two hours a couple months back — so it’s likely going to be pretty similar.

During this period, all online functionality and features will remain unavailable including matchmaking, leaderboards, in-game shops, seasonal rewards and more.

Once complete, Ermac should be available to play for Kombat Pack owners as well as try out some other changes being made to MK1.

In this update, Krossplay can finally be used in King of the Hill mode, which will hopefully be great for tournaments and group parties looking to play together across PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

New moves and combo strings are also being added for characters like Reptile, Rain, Shujinko as a Kameo, and Scorpion while Geras is getting a UI indicator for his countdown.

Overall, this could be shaping up to be one of MK1’s most notable updates since launch and hopefully too a sign of more additions to come.

And those looking for the new Mavado Kameo will need to wait until May to try him out.

Stay tuned to EventHubs for the official Mortal Kombat patch notes when they drop to see everything that’s coming as well as our review for Ermac soon as well.
