The developers behind Mortal Kombat 1 just released a classic skin for Sindel that transforms her into her old school Mortal Kombat: Deception self — and it looks fantastic. All the while, modders have been working on other classic looks from the past that probably aren’t ones that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games would actually want to make.
That being said, it doesn’t make these costume mods any less awesome, and in the case of the one we have for you this time, it definitely falls under the “awesome” category. A crafty PC modder named MikeMontyYT put together a new skin mod for Scorpion that makes him look a whole lot like the version of the fiery ninja from the iconic 1995 Mortal Kombat movie.
The original Mortal Kombat film from 1995 starred top notch talent such as Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Bridgette Wilson, and Christopher Lambert, and saw many of the series’ most popular characters make an appearance. This movie sprouted several iconic things that people still remember and love today, including the legendary track “Techno Syndrome” and lines such as “YOUR SOUL IS MINE!”
In the film, Scorpion wears his trademark yellow ninja garb, his black hood, and face mask. The costume is a bit more on the simple side, with his ninja suit not having a ton of bells and whistles on it, and his unique face mask has what almost look like a scorpion’s legs strewn across either side of it with a large piece in the middle resembling the arachnid’s body.
The mod from MikeMontyYT does a superb job of recreating this look in-game. What’s funny, though, is that the Mortal Kombat 1 mod version of this costume actually looks a bit too detailed compared to the source, but that’s not a bad thing at all.
What we get as the end result is a skin mod that looks like what the developers would make in an official capacity if they were going to add costumes from the 1995 film. The only thing that appears to be missing with this mod is the weird, snake-like spear Scorpion uses in the movie.
