The Mortal Kombat 1 October patch has been made live, and we now also have access to the patch notes. Within this patch are bug fixes, buffs, and nerfs that are sure to have an impact on the game’s overall meta.
Rooflemonger has recently released a video that serves as a visual guide for the patch. He goes over just about every notable change and theorizes on how these adjustments could affect competitive play.
One of the most notable adjustments is how Cyrax, the Kameo, was nerfed. Previously, it was believed that Cyrax was the overall best Kameo in Mortal Kombat 1 due to how his Horizontal Kopter Chopper allowed players to continue pressure against opponents. However, Cryax’s Horizontal Kopter Chopper now requires and consumes a full stock of Kameo gauge, dramatically reducing how often players will be able to use the attack.
Characters like Baraka, Geras, and Raiden received additional combo scaling for their attacks. In particular, combo scaling rises upon using a Kameo to interrupt certain hit reactions.
Rooflemonger even goes over an adjustment not detailed in the patch notes at all. As it turns out, Reptile’s damage is now a little bit higher. It’s speculated by Rooflemonger that NetherRealm Studios toned down the scaling of Reptile’s Force Balls which resulted in higher damage combos.
