More cameos from iconic fighting game characters spotted in new PlayStation 5 platformer Astro Bot

Yesterday we saw the reviews for Sony’s new PlayStation 5 platformer Astro Bot hit the internet. From everything we’ve seen so far, it seems the new title featuring the small robot is a big hit and among the better games in the genre.

We reported on it, however, because among the colorful cast of other robots you can find in the game — many of them being recognizable characters from various Sony franchises — was a popular contender from a beloved fighting game series. Well, it looks as though this character wasn’t the only fighting game representative to make a cameo in Astro Bot as a few more iconic fighters can also be found in robot form.

A new clip featuring a look at these other cameos was shared on Twitter and shows three other iconic fighting game characters making appearances here. From this point out, please be aware that we’re discussing potential spoilers.

The FGC_Daily Twitter page shared footage that reveals the inclusion of Street Fighter’s Ryu and Ken and Tekken’s Kazuya as robot friends you can find in Astro Bot.

This clip starts out with another look at Guilty Gear’s Sol Badguy, who we covered yesterday. After that, we see a little Kazuya robot standing around with his arms crossed and a mean look in his eyes.

When you strike the Kazuya bot, he gets angrier and transforms into his devil form before levitating and firing off a big eye laser.

Following that, we see two of the most beloved Shotos in all of fighting games as Ryu and Ken actually square off. When the player hits Ryu, he fires a Hadoken at Ken hitting him and knocking him down.

From here, the two continue to interact as Ken gets Ryu into a headlock before Ryu throws him off (like their classic Street Fighter Alpha intro). If Ken is struck by the player, he wallops Ryu with a big Shoryuken, then the two fist bump afterwards to show they’re all good.

Astro Bot is a PlayStation 5 exclusive and is available now.
