He’s a long way from Memphis…
Monster Hunter Wilds, the next installment of Capcom’s extremely popular action RPG, isn’t even officially available yet, but that hasn’t stopped fans from taking the appropriate time to be as creative as possible.
Right now, PlayStation 5 users who have PS Plus are enjoying early access to the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta, and said beta includes the full featured version of the game’s character creation tool. Even though the window is limited, some players are spending ample time creating their hunters, and one crafty individual has already managed to make Street Fighter 6’s poster boy, Luke, with stunning detail.
Twitter user MaG_s2_game has shared several screenshots and videos of their Luke creation in Monster Hunter Wilds over on the social media platform.
From the flopped to the side hairdo down to the distinct scars on his face, this custom hunter looks a whole lot like Street Fighter 6’s Luke. MaG_s2_game even went as far as equipping this design with a blue and white top that isn’t quite the same as Luke’s trademark vest, but does kind of look similar thanks to how the blue and white colors overlap.
The creator of this awesome looking hunter provided a handful of screenshots from different angles to show Luke’s different sides. We also see a couple of bits of video footage that further showcase the Street Fighter alum in Monster Hunter Wilds.
In the third tweet below, you’ll see a quick cinematic clip of Monster Hunter Luke chowing down on a piping hot meal and geared up in armor. If I hadn’t known this was a result of character creation, I would have been none the wiser and thought Capcom may have added Luke officially as a crossover.
It wouldn’t be the first time the two IPs met as Capcom has added Monster Hunter content to both Street Fighter 5 and Street Fighter 6 over the years. We saw the Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Fighting Pass added to Street Fighter 6 back in March that allowed players to unlock various themed items from the series with the biggest prize being a Rathalos armor set for your avatar.
Street Fighter 5 was given several playable fighter costumes that stemmed from the Monster Hunter series as well. There was Zinogre armor for R. Mika, Kirin armor for Ibuki, Rathalos armor for Ken, and Blanka transformed into Nergigante.
If this Luke were an official addition into Monster Hunter Wilds, it also wouldn’t be the first time Capcom themselves put Street Fighter characters into the series. In January 2018, Capcom revealed that Street Fighter 5’s Ryu and Sakura could be played in Monster Hunter World by way of two special armor sets that were rewarded for completing special missions.
