Capcom has revealed that a special crossover between Street Fighter 6 and the Monster Hunter series will be happening sometime in April. This crossover is happening in celebration of the Monster Hunter series’ 20th anniversary.
With the upcoming content update, players will be able to don the iconic Rathalos Armor for their avatars. This armor can be used in the World Tour and Battle Hub modes.
“Adventure through the Battle Hub in Rathalos Armor and take photos in a redesigned space built for all hunters,” said the official Street Fighter 6 Twitter account. “The quest begins in April.”
Notably, in Street Fighter 5, Ken was able to don a version of the Rathalos Armor from the Monster Hunter series as a downloadable costume. However, the weapon for the avatar character in Street Fighter 6 is noticeably bigger than Ken’s take from Street Fighter 5.
Of course, the armor and weapon are purely aesthetic pieces. For better or worse, it doesn’t appear that the Rathalos Armor will directly affect gameplay aside from maybe some stat changes.
Additionally, it seems that the Battle Hub will temporarily have a Rathalos statue placed in it for a period of time. With this, players will be able to take unique kinds of Monster Hunter-themed photos in the Battle Hub.
As of right now, details about the Rathalos Armor’s price have been left out. More than likely though, this will be a rather expensive costume considering the prices of previous collaborative avatar sets that have appeared in Street Fighter 6.
