Modders have turned the most brutal Mortal Kombat game ever into a Disney experience and it works WAY too well

YouTuber Toasted Shoes has a team of modders who’ve helped him essentially marry the brutality of Mortal Kombat with the magic of Disney.

Fearsome characters like Reptile, Frost, and Sindel are replaced by the likes of Beast, Elsa, and Rapunzel while backgrounds such as the treacherous Living Forest have been transformed into Disneyland, and we have to say, these characters lend themselves way too well to one another.

Rapunzel as Sindel, for instance, is a no brainer as both figures boast exceptionally long hair. Where Rapunzel traditionally uses said hair as a device for rappelling down high towers, she now uses it to whip, toss, and dismember opponents like Prince Adam/Beast, who plays the role of Reptile.

At first thought you may not see how Beast and Reptile might share any overlap, but the way NetherRealm Studios designed Reptile for Mortal Kombat 1 is the key.

Reptile is normally in a form that closely resembles a human, but becomes a beastly monster while he’s performing certain maneuvers. As such, we see the character normally present as Prince Adam during the brawl, but he’ll sometimes and suddenly transform into the mighty Beast to pull off particularly powerful attacks.

Elsa standing in for kameo fighter Frost is another easy transition as it makes total sense seeing the icy princess use her powers to freeze foes and manifest jagged icicle projectiles, and Olaf the snowman standing in for Havik works as both characters can lose a limb or two and keep on fighing.

Not only do these mods have visual appeal but the designers went the extra mile and added in a bunch of voice lines. These don’t usually contribute to the Kombat atmosphere in the same way the visuals do (though sometimes they do with eerie levels of accordance) but they add to the fun in other ways.

When Goofy (as Scorpion) lands MK’s most iconic attack he simply yells out an enthusiastic “YEE HAW, GYUCK!” while mercilessly slicing and dicing at his victim. We’ll admit Donald Duck as Sub-Zero is probably the biggest stretch here, but even that’s entertaining to watch.

The action actually kicks off with some old school versions of Mickey and Minnie Mouse (we’re talking Steamboat Mickie from the 1920’s) brawling out in front of Cinderella’s castle at Disneyland.

The initial interaction is an audio excerpt from an old cartoon wherein Mickey forgets about a particular anniversary, which we assume leads naturally to a fight to the death.

We share a lot of fighting game mods on this site and have to say the time and effort that clearly went into this project stand out. Check out all the magic/mayhem in the full video below and be sure to leave a comment letting us know which characters you liked best.
