Street Fighter 6 Season 2 has opened the door for third-party guest characters within the Street Fighter franchise. SNK’s Terry Bogard will be the one to start this tradition when he’s released on September 24. Sometime in early 2025, Mai Shiranui will also be joining the roster.
Shortly after Terry and Mai were revealed, Director Takayuki Nakayama claimed in an interview that he was open to Mortal Kombat guest characters, such as Sub-Zero, also joining Street Fighter 6 at some point. Of course, there’s also the possibility that we could see Tekken reps later down the road.
As it turns out, Killbox, a known modder for Street Fighter 5, has provided us with a small sampling of what it’d be like to have Kazuya in a Street Fighter game. This is still a work in progress, but the most notable thing about the mod so far is that Kazuya is capable of performing his iconic Crouch Dash.
The Crouch Dash technique is known for allowing number of powerful follow ups, most notably the Wind God Fist and the Electric Wind God Fist. Of course, for the time being, we’ve only seen Kazuya in this mod chaining Crouch Dashes together before utilizing what appears to be his Dragon Uppercut.
However, it’s definitely important to note that this is definitely a work in progress. Kazuya’s Dragon Uppercut in this mod is always punishable, even if he manages to hit his opponent with the technique.
According to Killbox, he’s currently focused on making Kazuya’s kit fully functional before he starts editing the hitbox data of his attacks. So it’ll still be a good while before Kazuya is able to actually duke it out with the likes of Ryu and Ken in Street Fighter 5.
Perhaps we’ll get the opportunity to officially see Kazuya in Street Fighter 6 in Season 3 or Season 4, assuming the developers decide to continue adding guest characters after Terry and Mai. Check it all out below:
