MMPB: SOLID MINERALS BOSS ADVOCATES FOR PUBLIC SERVICE ACCOUNTABILITY

The Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development Rt. Hon. George O’Ben-Etchi, has advocated for accountability from political office holders especially in the area of public service.

He made this charge in his capacity as the Vice Chairman, Commissioner’s Forum, while giving the vote of thanks at the maiden edition of the Monthly Ministerial Press Briefing organized by the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
O’Ben-Etchi said as public servants, politicians, either appointed or elected, owe the masses accountability and not shy away when questions are been asked about their efforts in the executing of government’s developmental policies as it will create a conscious reminder in them to serve well.

Addressing pressmen, O’Ben-Etchi said that ” as the fourth estate of the realm, Journalists should ask questions and not assume things. Even when you get answers, try not to twist it because you feel need to trend forgetting you are breaking the bridge between the government and the governed.”

He further lauded the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Comrade Asu Okang for coming up with such a brilliant idea to help project and promote the developmental agenda of the Ayade administration.

Acknowledging the guest speakers, the Commissioners for Culture and Tourism Development and Works, Mr Eric Anderson and Hon. Engr. Dane Osim-Asu, O’Ben-Etchi said he is amazed by what he heard as he has been informed and can confidently educate the layman properly of the happenings in their sectors.
He added that the briefing should not be limited to Commissioners only be extended to other appointees.
