Militants didn't attacked Governor's Office - Governor Ayade

It’s quite absurd as news reaching us today explains how Gov Ayade debunks rumours of Militant invasion at the Government House yesterday. The governor called it a mediocre to tarnish the image of his administration and that of Cross River State at large. Too bad for the poor governor who’d been faced with a lot of democracy saga over his ambitions and projects development for the state.

Governor Ayade strongly disclaimed the news been carried by the media yesterday, saying;

Yesterday several media sources had reported about armed militants who invaded the Cross River state governor’s office.

The said militants were members of the Bakassi Volunteer Force who paid a visit to the government house in Calabar.

The earlier reports also claimed the deputy governor was also held hostage by the militants.

The statement concluded that Cross River remains the safest state in the
country and urged the media to refrain from unnecessary sensationalism
so as not to cause panic among members of the public.

“The report is a regrettable sensationalisation of a peaceful protest by
some ex-militants over their three months unpaid allowances by the
federal government.
“The ex-militants were not armed and so could not have invaded the government house.
“Rather, they were very civil in their conduct as they sought
with the officials of the state government whom they hoped would take their message to Abuja.
“Once attended to, they peacefully dispersed. So it beggars belief that
such a peaceful and innocuous protest would be reported as an invasion
of the government house.
“More ludicrous is the claim that the deputy governor was
hostage. No such thing happened.”

At least, this is a little bit of a relieved, isn’t it? Cross River will still remain the safest state in the country and we ought to play our roles too as individual citizens.
