Miami Open: Djokovic Hails Dominant Win Over Musetti

Novak Djokovic produced a dominant performance to beat Lorenzo Musetti 6-2 6-2, which earned him a quarter-final place at the 2025 Miami Open.

The Serbian recovered from a slow start after going behind 2-0 before turning the tie around with an impressive showing in the second set.

He won nine consecutive games to earn a 6-2 win in the first set, and another 3-0 lead to open the second set.

Djokovic’s quality was too much for Musetti to handle as the Serbian held on to seal a dominant win to set up a quarter-final clash with

Korda confirmed his place in the quarter-finals with a 6-4 2-6 6-4 victory over Gael Monfils.

Djokovic, who is targeting his 100th tour win, and 25th Grand Slam win was excited with his performance in the encounter.

He said: “I think my level is really good, I’m very happy.

“This was the best match of the tournament for me so far and what I like is to see me as I progress through the tournament raising the level of tennis and that’s what’s happening.

“He played a couple of really good games at the start of the match, but I broke his serve and never looked back. I won nine games in a row. Phenomenal.”

He also acknowledged the influence of his coach, Thomas Murray in his game, while admitting they are still adjusting to working with each other.

Djokovic said: “We don’t know each other that well as people. We have known each other for a long time since our junior days, but when you are rivals, you don’t interact as much.

“Today, as we waited for the matches to start after the rain delay, we had a chance to sit down together and we had a very interesting talk.

“I always had tremendous respect for Andy as a player and now as a person. He is such a nice guy and I’m really grateful that he cares about me doing well on the court.

“It is still kind of surreal that one of my great rivals is my coach. Fist pumping and jumping around my box. Sometimes I pinch myself and ask if this is real.

“We are trying to get the best out of this as a player and coach and we are also trying to spend time together. We’ve had a great time together playing golf and having dinner. It has been fun.”

Djokovic will play his 96th ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final match against Korda on Thursday.
