Job Description

Coordinate the mechanical team in alignment with plant production plan and goal by ensuring team’s KPIs are met, using appropriate tools and standards for maintenance task execution, team management, recording keeping and analyzing, and failure prevention on equipment, while connecting with engineering stores on stocks levels and spares requirement

MAIN ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accomplishing department’s objectives by overseeing and leading maintenance procedures, managing team, planning, and evaluating departmental activities
  • Use of SAP to plan maintenance planning and execution.
  • Involvement in plant continuous improvement and Problem-solving methodologies
  • Conducting RCA using tools like 5ys, fish bone, CAPA, why-why analysis to prevent failures re-occurrence.
  • Management of maintenance budget by implementation of preventive maintenance to reduce equipment breakdown
  • Annual appraisals & setting objectives for mechanical technicians and shift leads in line with department objectives
  • Ensure no safety incidents happen in his area of work
  • Plan and organize preventive maintenance of the relevant machines to ensure maintenance schedules are followed.

Strategic Effectiveness

To execute planned maintenance activities with 100% compliance in accordance with existing maintenance policy and reduce cost of equipment maintenance to an acceptable level (budget limit). To ensure a simplified PM regime to achieve minimum equipment availability of 95% and reduce breakdowns to below 5%. To conduct RCA sessions & take preventive actions to prevent re-occurrence of same issues.

Manage the effective maintenance of all machines in the mills to ensure that they are performing efficiently and effectively.

  • Work on machine pro-plant generated by pro-plan system.
  • Maximize plant availability by ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Plan and order spare parts and tools for maintenance work to avoid delay due to material availability.
  • Document maintenance records for analysis and future reference.
  • Technical Training and development of technical subordinates to improve performance.
  • Control usage of materials and tools for optimal efficiency of machines.
  • Vet and recommend contract awards for 3rd party maintenance services to ensure compliance to specification.
  • Any other related tasks as assigned and when required by the management.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Coordinates and monitor all mechanical staff on their jobs
  • Make sure machine faults are attended to ASAP and no job repetition
  • Engaging with OEM with spare parts ordering and following up for swift delivery
  • Permitting compliance with safety requirements and liaising and coordination with other departments as required.
  • Ensuring spares availability for scheduled and projected jobs inclusive of spare inventory (physical) checking and stock inspections.
  • Participating in daily, weekly & monthly engineering performance review.
  • Help Head of Engineering to keep the maintenance cost under control
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Always ensure that all jobs are carried out safely
  • 100% compliance on ECLOTO for any energy isolation.

  • Always follow the safety norms and safety permits and keep them updated
  • Give safety orientation to all workers from time to time
  • Use appropriate PPEs while carrying out jobs
  • Ensure all the working areas are clean all the time with 5S entrenched.
  • Coordinate with safety and quality team for execution of all the jobs related to safety and quality
  • Shows responsibility for safety of third-party employees.
  • Ensure other staff and parties work conform with all safety rules

Qualification and Experience:

  • HND or equivalent in Mechanical engineering.
  • Min. 5 years of similar experience in any reputed manufacturing company, preferably milling, feed manufacturing, Brewery.
