PARADISE — The town of Paradise’s Measure V Citizen Oversight Committee is set to meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday to approve expenditures for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
Measure V is a .5% sales tax implemented in 2021 to provide additional funding to the town for needed equipment. The oversight committee determines where the money should be spent based on the needs of the town.
According to the agenda, Measure V funding is projected to be at $888,691 as of July 1, and the estimated revenue through the ’24-25 fiscal year is $1.4 million. The committee is recommending spending just shy of $1.7 million — which, if the estimations are correct, will leave about $593,000.
The majority of the proposed allocations — $655,000 — would go to Animal Control for the shelter expansion as well as shelter operations and an animal control truck. The Paradise Police Department would receive $373,100 for two new vehicles, training, a new hire program, a generator transfer switch and additional operational supplies.
Public works could see $350,000 for a new dump truck, a pickup and costs associated with modernizing vehicles.
Lastly, the fire department could get $317,500 to maintain its staffing contract as well as make improvements to Fire Station 82.
The committee also will approve minutes from April’s meeting. These meetings are held at 5555 Skyway in Paradise.
