He may not be a regular tournament player but YouTuber MC Mura has been living and breathing Street Fighter 6 since before the game dropped in the middle of last year. With a constant ear to the ground and eye on the competition, Mura regularly produces videos analyzing the SF6 experience down to the most insightful details.
Now that the latest balance update has been out for a month the content creator is offering his thoughts on how the tier list has evolved, and it seems things have shaken up quite a bit.
For starters, the widely agreed upon top three (as long as you didn’t ask the people who play them) are no longer the matter of fact big dogs. Luke, JP, and Ken were all targeted by developers with direct nerfs as they were easily the most complained about characters, and it seems said nerfs affected two of them.
Mura sees Luke as the sole survivor, and gives the face of SF6 his own tier above all the rest of his roster mates. Second and third place are awarded to Chun-Li (who actually received a pair of somewhat minor nerfs in the update) and Cammy, (who went untouched) respectively.
The next two characters are part of a decided top five, but following five are just part of a general top 10. Organizing the SF6 tier list beyond the first three characters has proven very challenging for the community as there are many roster members who can easily be argued to be included in this section of the tier order.
I myself often say that “the top five has like ten characters in it” when discussing the topic, simply because of how difficult it’s been to arrange. Many of the usual suspects are still in this part of Mura’s list, though now Ken and JP have joined that group.
