Clay Gravesande and AD Smith had a complex relationship. Clay was hesitant about marriage due to his father’s history of infidelity.
AD, however, was confident. She reassured Clay that they would overcome any obstacles as a couple. Everything seemed fine between them.
Then came the wedding. When it was time to say “I do”, Clay balked. He told AD he wasn’t ready to marry her.
The surprise was palpable.
Clay was adamant. He told AD he would work on himself for her sake. He admitted he wasn’t ready for marriage, but he also knew she deserved the best.
His words hit AD hard. Tearfully, she declared their relationship a waste of her time.
Clay had more to say. He revealed that financial and emotional issues influenced his decision. He had asked himself if he was ready to be a husband, if he was deeply in love. His answer to both questions was no.
At a reunion, Clay expressed regret. He admitted he’d made a mistake and wanted to date AD again. AD, however, was noncommittal about a possible reunion.
She did reveal something else. After the show, she’d gone on a few dates with co-star Matthew Duliba. However, they weren’t together.
