Wolves player and Manchester United target Matheus Cunha has dropped a transfer hint amid speculation building over his future.

Cunha signed a new contract at Wolves in February with a £62.5m release clause, which can be activated this summer.

Manchester United’s interest dates back to January, when Cunha’s commitment to Wolves for the remainder of the season was uncertain.

The Brazilian chose to stay with the club to help them battle relegation, but has experienced rough patches since.

In March, Cunha was sent off against Bournemouth and handed a three-match suspension for violent conduct, a ban which was later extended to four games following an FA review.

The forward is due to return to action tomorrow against Tottenham, but has today dropped a hint about his future.

In a deleted story on Instagram, Cunha said: “Time to be happy. I will follow my dreams, not yours… so stay cool”

The message appears to be directed towards Wolves fans, who have been unhappy with Cunha’s attitude in recent months.

With interested clubs circling over a possible move in the summer, the message serves as a clear signal of Cunha’s intent.

The striker has enjoyed a successful season in terms of numbers, bagging 13 goals in the Premier League so far.

He was particularly impressive against Manchester United at the Molineux earlier in the season, scoring and assisting in a 2-0 victory for Wolves.

Patience for Cunha’s antics has clearly worn thin among fans of the West Midlands club, however, with one fan posting on X (formerly known as Twitter): “He shouldn’t play again. We will get the release fee regardless.”
