Information reaching our correspondent has it that a Calabar resident who incidentally is disabled and a former teacher in public schools and goes by the name, Mr Offiong Okon, has resident completely razed by fire outbreak recently.
According to a source, Mr Akiba Ekpenyong, the inferno started from a neighbour’s apartment and has completely burnt down his life’s property.
His words, ‘The burnt house is what’s left of him from all his years of Labour. The unfortunate thing now is that he sleeps in his neighbours veranda… the inferno started from his neighbours house and spread to his apartment burning all his life investment and all he laboured for.
‘When I paid a visit to him on, I met him in tears as he narrates his ordeal especially sleeping in a place leaking and exposing him and his family to the hazard of this rainy season’.
The affected man, popularly called ‘prosper’ and resides at 13 Edgerton Street, in Calabar metropolis has expressed fears of the upcoming Harmattan and his plight: ‘as the harmattan draws neigh, I wonder what would become of me and my family’.
