December 17, 2024 BRONX, New York – Emergency crews from multiple agencies rushed to a major water main break in the Bronx, where waist high water flooded several blocks and parked vehicles on Monday evening.
Bedford Park locals did not report water inside any buildings during the incident that started around 7:30 p.m. on Webster Avenue between East 201st Street and East Mosholu Parkway South, officials said.
Overnight, first responders started clean up on Webster Avenue after a 48 inch water pipe burst causing significant flooding and leaving behind muddy streets and sidewalks in the area.
Vehicles that took on water were towed from the roadway. Some had water levels up to the door or completely submerging the front end of other vehicles. Some cars with lights left on could be seen underwater as gushing high pressurized water over took Webster Avenue.
According to FDNY officials, no injuries were reported following the major incident and the main break is still being monitored.
