Manchester United look to have one of their injured stars getting closer to re-joining their ranks for selection, with a huge update on Luke Shaw.
The left-back has been routinely injured for over a year, seeing him side-lined in the treatment room with only a handful of appearances in 2024.
Most recently Shaw missed the start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a calf injury before picking up another unrelated muscle injury.
The fresh setback in December was a huge blow for Shaw, with the defender taking to Instagram to express his frustration at the new injury.
Shaw posted: “It’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forwards, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback,” Shaw wrote.
“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.”
However, in a rare positive update for the the 29-year-old, Shaw looks like he’s close to a return to the pitch.

Luke Shaw returns to team training
Now, footage has emerged of the defender back in team training at an open training session ahead of their Europa League match with FCSB.
This is a massive boost for Amorim as re-joining team training is usually one of the final steps on any injured player’s road to recovery.
However, Shaw may be too late to establish himself as Amorim’s first-choice left-wing-back, with The Red Devils having finally agreed a deal for Lecce star Patrick Dorgu.
The 20-year-old is due to arrive in Manchester imminently to complete his medical assessment ahead of his move to Old Trafford.
