DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (TCD) — Police arrested a 45-year-old man over the weekend who allegedly beat his 81-year-old mother to death amid an altercation inside their home.
According to a news release from the Prince George’s County Police Department, on Sunday, Jan. 14, at around 8 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Brooks Drive and found the elderly victim, Madia Terry, unresponsive in the living room. She had sustained apparent bruising and trauma to her body, and officials pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police said detectives interviewed Madia Terry’s son, Mark Terry, who reportedly admitted that he fatally assaulted his mother “during a dispute.”
Officers arrested Mark Terry on charges of first- and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. He remains held in the Department of Corrections.
The investigation is ongoing.
