Patch notes for games that are decades old? No, infinite combos are not being suddenly removed from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or anything like that, but Capcom is updating the experience for their new Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics as they aim to make things run smoother for everyone.
This update, which is slated to roll out on Friday, September 20 at 1:30 a.m. PDT, is mainly focused on bug fixes, some of which are in service of improving online connection and quality rates. There is one feature update, however, for Juggernaut in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Perhaps the most enticing note of the bunch is the collection-wide change to regional matchmaking limits. While the most famous title of the bunch, MvC2, is getting plenty of attention here in the first month after the Collection’s release, the other games are just not as popular.
Capcom is relaxing regional limits so as to expand the potential player pools and help get competitors into more matches at a more rapid rate. Indeed, while players have widely been excited to get their hands on these nostalgic titles in a more modern capacity, the release has not been without bumps in the road.
There’s a bug players have been pulling off with Venom, for example, in which he freezes the opponent and can proceed to leave them in limbo until if and when he decides to hit them. We actually saw the mighty Justin Wong troll someone online with this glitch in our Justin Wong MvC2 moment roundup.
You can view all the patch notes for yourself below, and then let us know in the comments how much you’re enjoying the Fighting Collection thus far.
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics
• Matchmaking regional limits have been relaxed for online matches. We will continue to monitor network activity and stability to ensure an enjoyable play experience for all players.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes
• Cyttorak Power-Up setting added to the EX Settings to turn Juggernaut’s Cyttorak effect on or off upon tagging out. For Ranked Matches, the effect is set to be on upon tagging out.
• Fixed an issue that caused the game to freeze during online matches.
• Fixed an issue that caused attacks to not come out during Cross-Over Combination when Thanos is your partner.
• Fixed an issue that caused the player to lose control of their character when certain Cross-Over Assists hit at the exact same time as Venom’s Special Throw (Punch) attack.
• Fixed an issue that caused the ranking screen to not display properly after a match.
• Other miscellaneous bug fixes.
The MvC Collection is now available digitally on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The physical version will be available for PlayStation and Switch consoles on November 22, and the digital Xbox One version of the game will be released some time in 2025.
