In terms of weeks, this has not been as good as it seems for Arsenal, despite remaining top of the table as they continue to be the only side in all four English divisions with a 100% win record in the league.

Losing both Oleksandr Zinchekno (knee) and Thomas Partey (thigh again) in training, Arsenal then lost Mohamed Elneny (believed to be hamstring) to an injury that hasn’t been clarified but has been called ‘bad’ by Mikel Arteta.

In addition, Aaron Ramsdale will need to be assessed due to the hamstring problem he appeared to pick up as he was fouled when Villa scored from a corner.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Martin Odegaard also asked to be subbed not long after being on the end of another bad Aston Villa tackle. He was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe after 81 minutes.

Asked about the club captain after the game, Mikel Arteta said, “He got a bad kick, and he was struggling. It was very recent so we’ll have to see over the next few hours how he recovers.”

A bad kick is, hopefully, better than a muscular injury so all being well Odegaard should be fit for Sunday.
