19-year-old Brazilian winger, Marquinhos, has joined Norwich City on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.
The loan deal does not include an option for Norwich to purchase him permanently.
Marquinhos joined Arsenal from Sao Paulo in the summer and has made six appearances for the Gunners, scoring on his full debut in the Europa League.
Speaking to the Norwich website, Marquinhos said: “I’m really happy to arrive here in Norwich and very excited to play my first game.
“I’ve learnt a lot as part of my adaptation here in England. It’s totally different to Brazil. It’s more intensive but I’m adapting well in order to help Norwich.
“I’m also really happy to get to know a new club, a new culture and a new city. The fans can expect that I’ll show desire.”
Head coach David Wagner added: “We’re delighted to have been able to add Marquinhos to our group. He is a young and exciting wide player, who wants to learn and further continue his development.
“I’d like to thank both Arsenal, for their in trust in allowing the deal to happen, and Stuart [Webber] for getting everything sorted so quickly.
“We now look forward to welcoming Marquinhos to our first-team group ahead of the remainder of the season.”
Arsenal had considered loaning him out since the summer, but after impressing in pre-season and early appearances, and with few options in that position, Marquinhos was kept with the first team.
However, with the recent arrival of Leandro Trossard from Brighton, Arsenal now have enough depth to send Marquinhos out on loan for more first-team opportunities.
Marquinhos will be looking to gain valuable experience and increase his first-team chances during his loan stint with Norwich City.
The young Brazilian has shown potential in his limited playing time with Arsenal, and the loan move will allow him to further develop his skills and showcase his abilities in a competitive environment.
Marquinhos is expected to play a crucial role for Norwich as they aim for promotion to the Premier League.
With his speed, dribbling skills, and eye for goal, Marquinhos has the potential to become a key player for the club and make a significant impact in the Championship.
The loan move will be a great opportunity for Marquinhos to continue his progress and reach his full potential and I’m certainly excited about the chance to watch him play more regularly.
