Marcus Rashford has spoken out in regards to his omission from the squad against Manchester City at the weekend.
Ruben Amorim choosing to drop the Englishman from the squad was a bold decision, but one that proved to pay off as United went on to win 1-2.
Rashford was present at his old primary school in Manchester, where the 27-year-old spoke candidly to journalist Henry Winter about being left out by new manager Amorim, stating:
“It’s disheartening to be left out of a Derby. It’s disappointing but I’m also someone as I’ve got older I can deal with setbacks.

“What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it? Or do my best the next time I’m available?”
Despite the setback, Rashford remains focused on his long-term goals. Reflecting on his career, he said:
“I’m halfway through my career… The best is yet to come? 100%. That’s my mentality.”
The United forward emphasised his adaptability, particularly in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, which doesn’t best align with his preferred position. Rashford explained:
“I have traits to play in all three positions. Some positions are more natural to me, some positions I have to train more and do a bit more tactical (work). The left side suits me the best.”
Evidently frustrated by the omission, Rashford continues to support the team’s efforts. He added:
“We won the game so let’s move on.”
