Manchester United have long struggled in the transfer market.
Under the rocky guidance of Ed Woodward and the Glazers, the club seemed to prioritise big names over players who fit the team tactically.
However, since the acquisition by INEOS and the introduction of a new footballing structure, things seem to be looking up.
For the first time in years, Manchester United have managed to raise significant funds from outgoings, suggesting that under the new regime, there could be a revamp in recruitment.
There seems to be indications of a shift towards proper squad planning – aiming to build a team that can challenge for top trophies rather than simply appease frustrated fans.
Manchester United have recruited in various areas over the summer, but which transfers help United most and where have they gone wrong?
To assess whether a transfer will be a success, it is important to consider a couple of factors.
First of all what is the tactical need and fit of this player and even if they are talented will their talent be showcased in Manchester United’s system.
Secondly, is this worthwhile financially? How will this affect PSR and will the signing distort Manchester United’s wage structure?
Finally, is this signing going to block the path and growth of another player (same position as promising youngster)?
Using these factors here are all of Manchester United’s transfers ranked, both incomings and outgoings, for this summer:

Lenny Yoro (£52.18m + £6.73m) – 9.5/10
Lenny Yoro has been hailed as the next elite centre-back.
His former Lille manager Paulo Fonseca had previously remarked that Yoro “will be one of the best central defenders in France and probably Europe”.
Yoro thrives in a high defensive line thanks to his natural athleticism and ability to read the game a few seconds ahead of forwards, drawing comparisons to Virgil van Dijk.
His freakishly long legs allow him to recover the ball from attackers even in seemingly lost situations.
Coupled with his remarkable composure on the ball and the fact that he’s still a teenager, Yoro has the potential to be a top defender for the next 15 years.
Although he came with a hefty price tag, Manchester United saw off competition from Real Madrid to secure his signature.
His relatively low wages make the deal even more appealing.
United will just hope that his early injury isn’t a sign of things to come.
