In an exciting turn of events, as is always expected in the final week of the transfer market, Manchester United have been linked, seemingly out of nowhere, with three new targets.
What started as a potential double swap deal, Chelsea were offering Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling in a trade for Jadon Sancho. The two stars are out of favour with new manager Enzo Maresca so are facing a quite season at Stamford Bridge if they stay with the club.
News has now broken that United aren’t looking to continue with conversations for Chilwell, however a move for Sterling is one that new sporting director Dan Ashworth is in favour of.
Elsewhere, with struggles up top with Rasmus Hojlund out injured and new signing Joshua Zirkzee fitting into the squad, The Red Devils have also been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Toney’s been linked with United for some time, however the club didn’t look to be acting on anything, until this week.
However, Daily Mail journalist Mike Keegan believes there’s more to these deals than what is being reported.
With United having just signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG, marking the successful purchase of their top summer target, Keegan believes there is very little left in The Red Devils transfer budget.
As a result, the journalist suggests that these links are merely using Manchester United’s name as a bit of a ruse to try and draw out genuine interest in the players.
With transfer deadline day looming, clubs and agents are naturally going to be getting desperate to line up deals for their wantaway stars, so this could be a genuine tactic to make that happen.
