United are in desperate need of a striker this summer.
With the departure of former Golden Boy Anthony Martial, the Red Devils are left with Rasmus Hojlund as their only striker.
The Danish international has been a key man for United this season, making 43 appearances across all competitions, with a total of 16 goals to his name and a further 2 assists.
Having joined United from Atalanta last summer for €73.9 million, the 21-year-old has made an impact for the squad, matching Bruno Fernandes as the top goal scorer for United in the Premier League this season with 10 goals.
Despite United crashing out of the Champions League group stages, Hojlund was one of the top goal scorers in the group stages, with only the Danish striker, Erling Haaland, Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata scoring 5 goals across the 6 games.
Anthony Martial’s contribution as United’s only other striker was somewhat limited in comparison, with only two goals and one assist in 19 games.
With Hojlund carrying the team up top, and Martial now departed, it’s clear that one area United need to recruit to is their strike force.
Reports from Manchester Evening News have announced that United have made an initial bid for an up and coming La Liga striker.
It appears as though United have turned their attention to Barcelona prospect Vitor Roque.
The versatile striker arrived at Camp Nou from Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense this January for £50.6 million and has predominately been used off the bench, helping the squad to come second in La Liga this season.
Making appearances on both wings as well as his preferred position as centre forward, the Brazilian has grabbed two goals in his 16 appearances in a Barca shirt, drawing the attention of United scouts.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team have reportedly submitted an initial bid for the 19-year-old for a value of £29.6 million, however this has been turned down with Barca’s sporting director Deco saying the club are holding firm for £50.6 million to match their cost of buying him from Athletico Paranaense.
According to reports, United are still interested in the striker and are looking to revising their offer to try and bring him to Old Trafford to bring more depth to their attacking options.
