This weekend sees Manchester United take on Manchester City in the FA Cup Final, a game that has so much at stake; United’s final chance at European football next season, revenge for last year’s 2-1 loss to the Citizens as well as the 6-1 aggregate result from the Manchester Derbies, and potentially the future of Erik ten Hag as manager.

With United suffering so many injury setbacks this season, ten Hag has been limited for options through the Premier League run. However, we’re now seeing many top players returning, with Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane all back in rotation.

Another name set to be welcomed back is Mason Mount, the ex-Chelsea star who has unfortunately suffered calf issues ruling him out for most of his first season, only making 19 appearances across all competitions.

A report from The Standard suggests that Mount is due to make the team alongside Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial, with ten Hag saying on Thursday 23rd May “Tomorrow is the final training session and we’ll make the final decisions, but the way I see it now it looks good.”

Despite the call ups to the English provisional 33-man squad going to the Euros, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are due to miss the game through injury.

Predicted United XI: Onana, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes, McTominay, Garnacho, Amad

Injuries: Maguire, Shaw, Malacia

Doubts: Mount, Linelof, Martial

Time and Date: 3pm BST, Saturday 25th May 2024

Venue: Wembley Stadium

TV and live stream: BBC One and ITV1
