After receiving approval from the FA and the Premier League, Chido Obi-Martin is officially a Manchester United player.
Despite Arsenal’s best efforts to retain him, the talented striker opted for a move to United.
Obi-Martin saw a clear path for progression at Manchester United, something he felt was lacking at Arsenal.
The club has high hopes for him, especially after he netted an impressive 32 goals for Arsenal’s U18 side last season.
Following a long wait, Obi-Martin finally made his debut for Manchester United’s U18 team in a thrilling 4-3 win over Sunderland.
Obi-Martin started on the bench.
Bendito Mandato quickly put United in control with two early goals.
Sunderland managed to pull one back, but Reece Munro restored United’s two-goal advantage, seemingly putting the game out of reach.
However, Sunderland fought back, leveling the score at 3-3 with half an hour still to play.
United then turned to Obi-Martin, hoping he could replicate his prolific goal-scoring form and secure the win.
But it wasn’t Obi-Martin who found the winner – it was super sub Jim Thwaites who sealed the victory for United.
