In the midst of the current squad crisis at Old Trafford, Manchester United are keeping a focus on the future of the squad by securing the future of one of their wonderkids.
The senior squad are set to undergo a mass shake up as the club are open to selling the majority of their first team stars.
The exceptions are Andre Onana, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, who are all safe in Ruben Amorim’s long term plans.
Amorim is renowned for giving young stars a chance in his squads, with Amad Diallo thriving under the Portuguese manager, Leny Yoro set to feature heavily long term, and youngsters like Toby Collyer starting to become a regular on the bench.
Now, the club are looking to secure the next class of Red Devils as one of their academy stars is awarded a new contract.

Manchester United sign academy star Jim Thwaites
17-year-old Jim Thwaites has had an impressive run in the Under-18s side, having made 12 appearances with four goals and two assists this season to help United in their unbeaten run so far.
The central midfielder was also played a supporting role in their season last year with a singular goal against Derby, making 11 appearances to help the team win the Under-18s Premier League.
Having stepped up this season to be more instrumental in the squad, United have rewarded his efforts. Academy Arena have reported on X that Thwaites has signed a long-term professional contract with United.
This is a major show of the club’s faith in Thwaites, as he has only just turned 17 last week. United offering him a long-term contract so soon speaks volumes considering his secure position in the academy.
Whilst the full duration of the contract is unknown, the signing of a contract days after he’s eligible to is a huge sign of the potential the club feel he can bring to the pitch.
